Corrie loch

A corrie loch (also known as a tarn) is a mountain lake or pool.

Kubla Khan

Kubla (or Kublai) Khan was the founder of the Yuan dynasty in China.

Laureate

For the Lakes poets, it meant that they were the Official Royal Poet.

A lake or pond -any body of water -see Grasmere or Windermere.

pensive

thoughtful (as "In vacant or in pensive mood, They flash upon that inward eye" in Wordsworth's "Daffodils".

Tarn

A tarn (also known as a corrie loch) is a mountain lake or pool.

Thwaite

A clearing, a piece of cleared forest land.

Xanadu

This was in what is now Inner Mongolia and was the summer capital of the Dynasty of Kubla Khan
