This is an advanced (C1+) grammar and syntax revision course course which will help you both in your understanding and generation of advanced English texts and also in analysing and critiquing the writing of others. It consists of a series of complex revision quizzes  using Biblical references and covering the main grammar features of English.

This is an advanced level (B2+) micro-unit for our English for Academic Purposes program but is recommended as an optional short course for students of Communication.

Students examine an extract  from a 1978 discussion John Searle, the philosopher of language. What are philosophers like Searle trying to explain about the "speech act"?
